Centrifugation, sedimentation and filtration technologies are used in the renewable energy industry to separate oils and solids. Most times, the choice of separation method is based on economics than technical reasons, because more than one method of separation accomplishes the desired end result. In addition, separated solid waste, sludge and dry cake solids (along with all carbon-based waste worldwide) can be converted into renewable energy with pyrolysis waste-to-energy technology.
