US Centrifuge Systems is awarded an order from the GE Nuclear Fuels facility for its first Pyrolytic Sludge Remediation System to process the centrifuge sludge from the facility's own onsite wastewater treatment plant. GE's Tom Crawford said he wanted to be the first customer in the country to employ this unique new "ashifying" technology in his recently constructed treatment facility that is also utilizing GE's MBR technology and US Centrifuge Systems's Model A540 for sludge separation and dewatering. The sludge discharged from the centrifuge will be fed to the Pyrolytic Sludge Remediation System, which will reduce the volume and produce a harmless ash. The installation is part of the facility's overall waste minimization program and resource recovery program being eagerly watched by the North Carolina state EPA.
