Sea World Centrifuge in Orlando

US Centrifuge Systems saves aquatic amusement park from excess animal and fish waste in sea tanks by building two automatic centrifuges.

Before US Centrifuge Systems

SeaWorld, Orlando needed a way to process concentrated animal and fish waste from the sand filter back wash concentrate tank. This was a unique application and environmental treatment because processing animal waste from Shamu and the other Orca Whales required special attention and modifications to protect the machines from the sun and weather.

Beyond the Centrifuge

US Centrifuge Systems expanded its research and development in 1999 with a successful waste-to-energy system that can now convert up 8 tons of waste within one hour of operation into renewable energy. Sister company Organic Power Solutions was established, and now, high-value co-products are created and used in the production of in-house renewable energy or sold to third-party utility companies. Solutions

US Centrifuge Systems built a pair of all stainless steel A560 automatic centrifuge on a skid model. These automatic centrifuges were installed as part of a complete life support system upgrade for the Shamu exhibit with a pen-nipped system and fish holding tank system.

Results

A560 automatic centrifuges separate solids and discharge a drier cake acceptable for disposal while the clarified water is returned to the filter system. The model A560 automatic centrifuge results in 70 percent reduction of total disposal volume, stackable cake-like sludge, reduced handling costs and increased options for sludge disposal.
