Home Algae Separation and Harvesting with Centrifuge Harvesting, dewatering and drying algae, centrifuge oil from algae As shown in the photos below, oil-rich algae can be extracted from a variety of algae bioreactors, ponds, or waste processing systems using a centrifuge to separate and dewater the algae for various purposes, including bio fuel and bio diesel production. Feasibility studies for the production and harvesting of algae for biodiesel and bio fuels are now being conducted. Companies such as Live Fuels in Menlo Park, California have purchased Model M512 centrifuges for algae separation. US Centrifuge Systems has also worked with companies that have larger scale commercial algae production operations and have recently purchased both automatic self-cleaning centrifuges and / or decanter centrifuges for higher capacity algae separation and harvesting. US Centrifuge Systems is also working with companies utilizing algae based processes for waste water treatment applications. The centrifuge is used to separate and de-water the treated sewage and algae biomass.
